Gate Zero – Project Description

We are producing Gate Zero – an open world adventure game set in the fascinating time of Jesus’ life. The game, based in ancient Israel, will be an immersive and innovative way to discover and learn about the Bible’s history and its revolutionary message. We are seeking a Lead Programmer to be responsible for the technical aspect and the development of Gate Zero.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team of programmers and manage their daily tasks
  • Collaborate with a distributed engineering team in multiple locations
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain systems across both client and server
  • Stay updated on gaming trends and advancements to inform development decisions
  • Ensure the engineering team works within the constraints of the existing game engine to meet performance, quality and maintainability benchmarks
  • Pro-actively address issues blocking the team, providing them with the tools to work effectively
  • Write code alongside your team members
  • Mentor, oversee and support the career growth and well-being of direct reports

Qualifications required

  • 7+ years game programming experience. Must have shipped at least 2 AA / AAA games as a Lead Programmer
  • Good command of C++ programming, including refactoring, optimization, debugging and testing
  • Unreal Engine specific experience and expertise in framework and code / data architecture using Unreal Engines best practices
  • Experience in one or more video game engineering specialties ( Gameplay, Engine, UI, Rendering, Tools, Networking, etc… )
  • Experience mentoring or managing engineers
  • An understanding of video game production with the ability to see the perspective of other professionals involved in production
  • Autonomous, problem-solving, and open-minded attitude
  • Good communication skills, ability & desire to work as a team player
  • A calm demeanour when facing challenging situations (you know a solution is always at hand)
  • Impeccable strategic leadership skills

Preferred:

  • Love of games: Specifically, open world and RPG titles as well as cooperative games
  • Passionate in bringing the messages of the Bible out in video game form
