About Bible X Studio

Bible X is an exciting independent game studio founded in 2020 in Moss, Norway and staffed by experienced developers that have worked on titles such as Assassin’s Creed, GTA, PUBG, Red Dead Redemption/Revolver, Diablo 4, Killing Floor 1/2/3 and Maneater.

Having hit the Kickstarter goal of $324,000 in 72 hours while raising a total of over $331,726 by the end of the campaign and going on to now have raised over half of the $12.5M fundraising target with $6.5M raised so far, Bible X has proven the overwhelming interest in the Gate Zero game.

Bible X’s mission is to bring the message of the Bible to life and make it accessible through immersive experiences. The team is composed of passionate game developers who strongly believe in the powerful medium of gaming and its role in engaging, educating, and inspiring youth today. We believe that there is a great need for innovation when it comes to conveying the Bible’s life-changing message to the younger generation and aim to develop high-quality, comprehensive products that can be used individually or in groups by anyone who wants to take the words of the Bible seriously.

About the game

Gate Zero is an open-world, single-player, third-person story driven adventure game with an innovative open playstyle that empowers gamers to tackle challenges their way. As Max, a teenager from a dystopian future transported back into the ancient past, players utilize their own mix of action, stealth, dialogue, unique tools and abilities to save the future and get back to their own time.

About the Role

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and optimize art pipelines, tools, and workflows for Unreal Engine 5. 
  • Implement and refine shaders, materials, lighting setups, and animation systems. 
  • Work closely with artists, designers, and engineers to integrate assets efficiently. 
  • Code in C++ and Unreal Blueprint scripting to enhance visuals and functionality. 
  • Improve UE5 performance through profiling, debugging, and optimization techniques. 
  • Provide support in the design, creation, and optimization of character assets, including skeletons, cloth simulations, and ragdoll systems. 
  • Develop and implement character customization pipelines for body and facial features, ensuring compatibility across various body types. 
  • Set up and maintain character equipment systems, integrating blend shapes for seamless gear fitting. 
  • Prototype new technical solutions for character creation, animation, and environment interactions. 
  • Support the integration of advanced material and UV workflows, including global effects and tri-planar UV projection. 
  • Create, optimize, and troubleshoot Blueprints and plugins to combine real-time technologies within Unreal Engine. 
  • Support the importing and management of character assets from DCC software, optimizing them for real-time performance. 
  • Collaborate with the Lead Character Artist, Technical Animator, and Lead Technical Artist to establish material and pipeline standards across disciplines. 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in game development. 
  • Shipped at least one AA or AAA using Unreal Engine. 
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: animation, shaders, art tools, lighting, or UE5 performance optimization. 
  • A deep understanding of game engines, rendering, physics, and procedural workflows. 
  • Ideally proficient in Maya, or Blender, especially for character modeling, rigging, and animation. 
  • Strong experience with character equipment and blend shapes for body type customization. 
  • Ability to create processes to support modular control rigs, tactical characters, and equipment systems that are adaptable to various entities, including humans and non-humans. 
  • Experience with UV generation and material standards, ensuring visual consistency across characters and environments. 
  • Experience with body and face customization pipelines, including blend shapes and procedural fitting solutions. 
  • Knowledge of optimizing assets to balance visual quality and performance. 
  • Proven ability to work with various teams, including the Lead Character Artist, Technical Animator, other technical artists, engineering, and VFX, to integrate character systems and material effects. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills in asset creation, rendering issues, and content optimization. 
  • Familiarity with performance capture workflows 
  • Adaptability & Innovation: 
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest tools and techniques, testing and implementing new features in Unreal Engine. 
  • Ability to prototype, iterate, and refine technical assets and character tools.
